Over the past month or two, our Wood and Metal Framing solutions have been beefed up significantly. Even though we’ve talked about a lot of those updates in several recent blog posts, there are still some points that we haven’t gone over yet. In the latest version of these powerful solutions, you’ll find extended functionality for framing openings, view rotation, mixed wood-metal framing, and more.

To make your work faster and smoother.

Before diving into the details of this update for our framing software, perhaps a little distinction is in order. Due to such frequent updates of our software, a common question always comes up: "Why is your software updated so often?" And we understand. After all, sometimes that little red dot shows up in the Dock more than twice a month!

TOOLS4BIM Dock OverviewThe reason for such a high frequency of updates is because we try to fulfill clients' special requests as soon as possible. Instead of making a client wait a month or two until the next VERSION is released, we strive to implement their specialized requests as quickly as we can by frequently releasing software BUILDS. Of course, these BUILDS may also contain bug fixes – and we're very grateful to clients when they help find these! – but rest assured that most often, that little red dot just means we’ve made one more client’s Revit dream come true.

With that said, let’s get into the new things you can do with your timber or light-gauge steel framing projects using the latest BUILDS of Wood and Metal Framing!

All framing structural designers know that diagonal bracing is necessary because it keeps framed walls stable, preventing them from collapsing. Let-in bracing is the most widely used bracing system, but this bracing requires the studs be notched so that the brace will be flush with the stud surface. Using diagonal braces, these studs are typically cut at a 45- to 60-degree angle.

But sometimes designers need other type of cuts. For example, AGACAD client Optimera AS (which is supported by AGACAD's valued partner in Norway Focus Software AS), a significant distributor of building materials in Scandinavia, was looking for the possibility of making special cuts:

"We need cuts for diagonal nailers to be horizontal and not diagonal as shown in the pucture. Is this possible?"
