Modelling timber frame houses in Revit would be a tough challenge. Can you imagine creating all those framing members one by one?

Luckily, you don’t have to. With the help of AGACAD team’s software, which automates wood framing work with walls, floors and roofs in Revit® projects, all you have to do is predefine rules, and the application will do all the work from design (modelling the frame) and documentation (creating workshop drawings and schedules) to wall segment fabrication and construction.

The most noteworthy is that it’s now possible to make custom headers and top plate supports in your metal or wood framing project – that was a big wish for many of our users, so it is with great pleasure that we announce this huge improvement!

Customizing a header, sill, or top-pate support in Revit used to be the stuff of dreams and fairy tales. As more and more Revit users in the framing field began dreaming this collective dream, however, it was no longer something only to be dreamed of – but acted upon. Now the time has come to say: The dream has become reality.

Yes, that’s right. You weren’t daydreaming as you read that. Honest to goodness, you can now create custom headers, sills, and top plate supports in your metal or wood framing project! We’d like to give you a quick overview of this extremely valuable feature as well as other useful improvements that are part of the latest versions of Wood / Metal Framing Wall+.



1. The ability to make virtually any custom type of header, sill, and top plate support. This is a dream-come-true for many of our customers. It’s one of the biggest advances ever made in our wall framing solutions, so we’re very excited to share it with you!

You can create any type of header, sill, or top plate support and save it under its own name for future projects. Your custom configurations can also be shared with colleagues.

If you’ve been hoping for a way to effortlessly and painlessly reposition studs, your ship has just come in. And even if you haven’t been on the lookout for it, you may want to climb aboard – this is the Queen Mary of stud placement.

It’s fast. It’s powerful. It makes life easier.

The newly released versions of Wood / Metal Framing Wall+, Floor+, and Roof+ contain a new option that allows you to position studs and joists not only in relation to each other but according to Revit gridlines. This special feature was developed at the request of our Norwegian users.

In the past, studs or joists had to be spaced following a predefined pattern, say, 24 inches apart, within each wall, starting from one end or the other or from both ends working toward the midpoint. An extra step was then required to make sure that studs were aligned.

But now, with new Align with Project Base Point feature, you can space and align all your studs at the same time! Project Base Point handles positioning in a more robust manner than before: instead of directly defining the spacing between studs, you just define the grid spacing, and the function takes care of the rest. Studs are positioned on the gridlines –and where necessary to fill in gaps or form intersections – so that they always match up across a corridor or room.

Want to see more detail in your shop drawings? Now you can, by creating Detail Views! This powerful function is included in the newly released versions of Wood / Metal Framing Wall+, Floor+, and Roof+. This special feature was developed at the request of our Norwegian users.

Back in the olden days, when you placed an assembly view on your shop drawing, you could see that assembly and all its parts in all their dimensioned glory. It was wonderful.

That was then.

This is now.

Our framing software for wood and metal floors has been updated in a lot of ways. From connections to stud size, from rendering shop drawings to cutting beams, there is a variety of upgrades in these products. Let’s take a tour and check out the new features of Wood Framing Floor+ and Metal Framing Floor+!

  • Floor Connections
    Even though the most popular floor end connections were already available, these weren’t sufficient because users often want to generate something unique. Take structural engineers. They’re always interested in reducing heat loss and saving materials, frequently by using special joins. Well, now we have good news for everyone who needs to make custom joins! Our newly-developed custom join function allows you to make virtually any connection type, save it, and use it in your projects.

We got such question from our Metal Framing Wall+ user:

Some of our panel designs use a lot of different post assemblies throughout the building. I end up creating these as a combination of vertical studs, additional studs, and sometimes a stud from a connection too. I’d like to use a special framing member mark to communicate when these studs are a post instead of a vertical/additional/connection stud. Although I would be really thankful if you know of a way your programs would be able to do this.

For example: my superintendent wants the S-2 stud below to be marked CFP for cold formed post."

Using Wood Framing Wall+ and Metal Framing Wall+, you can automate wall framing work in Revit and build complete shop drawings with dimensioning, part lists and material take-off automatically. Solution will collect all elements from one wall panel and make assembly with predefined views, add dimensions, add tags, make sheets and put the views into the sheets.

With new Wood Framing Wall+ and Metal Framing Wall+ version you will be able to generate more detailed shop drawings and have possibility to create multiple sheets for one wall panel. We received this request from our client Mr. Alar Oinus (Fint Engineering OÜ) who wants to provide more information about framed walls to fabrication process.

Assembly Views, Schedules and Sheets are now separated into different tabs which makes it ease to find and control them. Under Assembly Views, you can predefine assembly views, graphical representation, and framing layers you want to present. Now you can predefine different framing, connection or part tags for each view. Also every view now can have its own frame dimensioning rules, which include dimension styles and positioning. There are no limits to the amount of views!
