We often receive requests from clients to make specific L, T or Free End joins. The most popular are already available, but still there is a need to generate something unique. Unique joins usually are encouraged by structural engineers who are willing to save heating loses or save materials. We always had demand for such tasks.

Now, we have good news for everyone with need for custom joins!

We have created new connection technology that allows making virtually any connection type, save it and use in any projects. This technology has been developed for Metal Framing Wall+ and Wood Framing Wall+.

Here is an example, which we got from the client. This is their specific L corner:

What should Autodesk® Revit® user do, if he needs to quickly split logs into segments, which are overlapping? It can be done with the newest version of BIM solution Wood Framing Wall+, which has improved Split Bridging/Nogging feature.

AGACAD team has created a new application for Autodesk® Revit® to export multi-layered frames of wooden walls and floors to automated panel production lines.

Earlier AGACAD offered optional export to any separate Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines, but from now on modelled timber house frames can be moved from Revit directly to large CAD/CAM production lines for mass production. When timber frame house building companies have a lot of orders and large volume of production capacity, production line greatly speeds up their work.

New Exporter is a separate software for Revit users that can automatically assemble all framing members in predefined ways and send all necessary data for flexible manufacturing of timber houses to CAD/CAM production line.

Today we offer CNC Exporters for the most popular production lines WEINMANN and Randek but this AGACAD software can be adapted for other producton lines of timber frame pre-fabricated house industry too.

How does productivity line work?

We are glad to announce that there was a NEW framing technology added that allows to frame multi-story houses 10 times faster! Updates are reflected in these applications for Autodesk® Revit®:

Metal Framing Wall+ 2016.14 and 2017.14,
Wood Framing Wall+ 2016.14 and 2017.14,

Metal Framing Floor+ 2016.8 and 2017.8,
Wood Framing Floor+ 2016.8 and 2017.8.

Multi-Framing features work great with big projects, like multi-story wood- or metal-framed houses. We have tried to frame walls belonging to one group and copy them to other similar groups in the model of big tenement house. It took only ~30 minutes to frame over 700 walls with new multi-framing functionality.

AGA CAD Ltd. is a developer of professional applications for Autodesk® Revit® software for sectors of architecture, engineering, construction, fabrication and facility management. The company often receives positive feedback from clients, and this confidence in AGACAD software helps consistently expand not only the number of clients, but also a network of TOOLS4BIM product representatives in various countries around the world.

The latest company achievement: AGACAD has expanded its Scandinavian reseller network for its Wood & Metal Framing products’ distribution to clients in Northern Europe. In the beginning of April, a distribution agreement between AGACAD and Norwegian IT Company Focus Software was finally signed. Focus Software AS, a leading design software solution provider, became the distribution partner in Norway for Wood & Metal Framing Solutions.

"We chose the AGACAD framing solutions because they provide great options for working with wood and steel, both very popular materials in Norwegian building projects. In addition, the integration with Revit makes these solutions perfect for a streamlined BIM-workflow. AGACAD is also an experienced provider of these solutions, and we are very confident in their products and the opportunities they provide," comments Tora Teig, Marketing Coordinator of Focus Software AS.

AGACAD CEO Donatas Aksomitas is glad that trust in company's BIM solutions is continuously growing and the circle of distributors expanding: "We are happy that more and more software vendors see wide opportunities of our Framing products and want to represent them to their clients. The partnership agreement signed with the Swedish company AEC AB a year ago already yields positive results, so we hope that many designers in Norway will appreciate our BIM solutions for framing too."

Focus Software AS along with AGACAD will cater for the Norwegian market. Focus Software has decided to specialize in IT solutions for framing, thus this AGACAD distributor has gained an exclusive right to sell Wood Framing and Metal Framing solutions that automate creation of detailed wall, floor and roof framing design.

This blog post was inspired by one of Wood Framing Wall+ user’s series of questions. He was looking for advanced framing possibilities with Revit®, and decided to try our BIM solution and sent us some questions about timber wall framing. Since we receive similar questions from other clients too, I have decided to write a summary of Q&A that Wood Framing Wall+ users could find as many answers to their questions in one place as possible.

So here are a few questions about timber wall framing and answers to each of them:

”Hi! At last I installed Wood Framing Wall+ to my computer. I did simple project and this program is almost perfect. I have a few questions about it:

1. I can make framing schedules, but can I get notching information too to framing schedule? For example I have a wall with bridging like in the picture below, and same height wall without bridging, schedule information looks just the same. I need to specify studs with and without notch.”
