In this webinar we'll show how to use our Smart Assemblies BIM solution – and particularly its revamped Smart Dimensions feature – to further automate your shop drawings in Revit. Whatever your line of work (wood/metal framing, precast, etc.), if you have to make shop drawings, this webinar is for you. We invite you to join!

What you'll see in this webinar:

  • Automatic dimensioning rules in Smart Dimensions;
  • Available settings in Smart Dimensions and what they mean;
  • The difference between making dimensions using Smart Dimensions vs. the default settings of Smart Assemblies;
  • Examples of dimensioning in shop drawings used in various countries around the world.

It’s time to demonstrate the new workflow and technology created especially for cross-laminated timber (CLT). In this webinar about CLT, you’ll see how to create CLT panels for walls, floors, and roofs by using AGACAD’s Wood Framing software and sample families, distribute details, and even design ventilated facades!

What's the latest building style you can frame with AGACAD‘s Framing software for Autodesk® Revit®? Heavy Timber and Post-&-Beam structures! The new BIM software Wood Framing Oak is powerful and flexible in automating the design process for even the most complex and unique structures – it’s just a matter of figuring out a workflow and setting up required families.

We've already covered multi-layered timber frames and frames with SIP panels for walls, floors and roofs, high-quality ventilated facades, and architectural curtain walls with highly detailed elements. So, now it's time to move on to framing with massive timbers.

Using Wood Framing OAK and sample families, you can create heavy-timber-framed walls, floors and roofs. Also, distribute and manage details used in connections with cuts common for oak frames by using our BIM solution Smart Details and, finally, prepare shop drawings, cut lists, and even export wood elements and details to any CNC machine and CAD/CAM production line, including Hundegger and Weinmann.

Once Walls, Floors and Roofs have been modeled in Revit, it’s time to frame them. Wall+, Floor+ and Roof+ modules (they are included in BIM solution Wood Framing OAK) have all the features that are required to predefine your own configurations for framing. Standardization and automation of the wall, floor and roof framing process and shop drawing generation allows you to skip major hurdles in building design. These are the prominent time-saving Wall+, Floor+ and Roof+ functions.

Great news for users of our ROOF framing software – Cut Opening is now an included feature!

Cut Opening is extremely useful because, before you frame a roof automatically with Roof+, you need to have openings for fire safety components throughout your Revit model where ducts, pipes, cable trays, and conduits intersect with the roof. And Cut Opening makes all those openings for you.

Whether you use the wood or metal roof framing BIM Solution, Cut Opening will be provided for no extra fee to existing clients.

Current clients who want to utilize Cut Opening in their roof framing work, please contact us for a new activation code!

AGACAD’s unstoppable R&D team just added even more great features for framing rafter systems in Revit® to the Wood Framing Roof and Metal Framing Roof solutions. New functionality lets you easily lay out OSB or metal sheathing, place hip, valley and ridge caps, add drip edges, and more.

There are two things you need to know about our software for framing timber and steel roofs in Revit.

FIRST, the roof framing solutions now include Truss+ (for truss structures) and Roof+ (for rafters & prefabricated roofs).

SECOND, creating rafter roofs automatically in Revit® models is much smoother and more intuitive than ever. Without further ado, let's check out all the new features you can use!

When framing a prefabricated wall panel in Revit, the “Frame Parts” function is useful when you have parts of the wall that do not belong to the prefabricated panel, e.g., siding that will be built in place. Here’s a workflow showing how you can frame parts.

Q: How can I frame an opening for a set of pipes passing through a wall and make individual openings for each one in the sheathing layer?

A: While there are other workflows, the one I’ll describe below seems to be the simplest with the least steps and configurations. The following steps will lead to this end result for your pipes:

1. You have to create Opening configurations for your pipes (ducts, etc.), which will insert simple round openings for your pipes (you can use one configuration for all sizes) but will join those openings into a rectangular framed opening, in case the pipes are close to one another (second screenshot):
