Our Precast Concrete solution for Revit was just recently updated with new features and performance improvements, including new ways to split walls, add details, and create shop drawings/tickets. But by far the most significant update is that the Metal Framing Floor+ feature has been added to Precast Concrete! We did this especially for clients wanting to create slabs by using Structural Framing families and even apply this to warped double tee slabs for precast parking garages.

smart details logoThe building industry is in need of efficient and flexible tools for 3D modeling and documentation, so we're continuing on with developing our Revit add-ons. Smart Details has filled a huge gap in the market by making it easy to insert batches of intelligent details. Thanks to user-feedback and ongoing dialogue with BIM experts, it keeps getting better. The latest Smart Details update brings great value for Revit users, particularly with three new features. Let’s get right into it.

The first thing you’ll find is that Smart Details can now automatically find details in one element and place them in the same location in another. Call it “detect-and-insert corresponding detail”. But that’s almost as long as just describing it in the first place. It definitely increases efficiency in designing precast, wood or steel framing – you name it. Here's what it looks like:

And here are three examples:

By putting a new spin on some existing technology, we can make things which had earlier seemed out of reach. That’s certainly the case with using ventilated facades to cover the exterior of new or renovated building.

Both functional and aesthetic, the versatility of ventilated facades allows for a variety of eye-catching looks that come with lots of practical advantages like thermal and sound insulation, rain protection, thermal expansion, and fire safety.

A ventilated facade is designed so that panels – often made of technical ceramic or porcelain – cover a building’s exterior, leaving a space for air to flow between the structural wall and the facade. This buffer layer creates a chimney effect all around the building, giving rise to the aforementioned benefits.

Only problem is, there has been no efficient way of modelling ventilated facades in Revit.

Until now, that is.

By using our new solution, you can model ventilated facades in your Revit project!

Ventilated Facades makes it quick and easy to design high-quality ventilated facades in Revit® with automated real-time updates for project changes. That ensures you’ll get high-quality framing models, including hangers, fixings, brackets, etc. You’ll get accurate bills of materials, shop and fabrication drawings, and accurate on-site assembly thanks to BIM-to-Field features.

It’s time to dress your walls to the nines!

I will go straight to the point – Revit is not enough for structural engineers. It has quite good tools to model forms of precast elements. And it’s ok for preliminary design. But when you have to go into details, you probably ask yourself every time – why did we choose Revit to be our main software for everyday work? While our friends, colleagues in other companies use Tekla and have no complains?

It should not be like this that’s why we developed add-ons for precast structures to improve work efficiency in Revit and be able to compete with other companies in the market. You don’t have to miss out on easier design work or regret that your models are Revit models, with Precast Concrete Suite you can solve most of the headaches in structures discipline and then you will begin enjoying working with Revit.

It seems that this year will be the first, when everything is going according to plan. Autodesk company is about to release Autodesk® Revit® 2017 on April 17th 2017, while AGACAD plans to release its newest TOOLS4BIM products’ versions... on April 17th as well!

We are still working on our products’ 2017 versions but they are nearly ready. 2017 version testing is in full swing and is nearly completed. Most of AGACAD TOOLS4BIM products are already tested and work perfectly in Revit 2017 version environment. Our technical team needs to check just a few more BIM solutions, and if bugs don’t rush us over, the newest versions’ preparations will be complete. And voila! – You can use the new Revit version together with productivity-enhancing applications designed for Revit.

Autodesk® Revit® is excellent BIM software that generates great advancements in the construction drawing process. But in case of instant insertion of hundreds of details or cuts into Revit model, this software requires manual work and long working hours.

Manual insertion of elements one by one doesn’t seem like a very intelligent workflow therefore many Revit users seek for more innovative ways to add the details and refinements they need in their models. Various details are quite important in our projects, especially in precast elements or structural models. That’s why many Structural Engineers, Architects, and Contractors choose additional tools for Revit that allow them to quickly distribute details or even specific cuts in their Revit models.

Our BIM solution Smart Details is an application for Revit that received great attention from the building engineering community. The last update of this solution extended capabilities of Smart Details; moreover this BIM solution also became a wonderful helper designing detailed models in Revit. In the upcoming webinar, we will demonstrate how much detailing in Revit is easier with Smart Details than using only Revit.

We have good news for Autodesk® Revit® users who design framed buildings. Currently our team develops new version of Metal Framing Floor+ that will be more functional than ever. Using Metal Framing Floor+ updates, you’ll be able to create Ceilings, not just Floors!

I’ll shortly introduce the upcoming Metal Framing Floor+ functionality so that you can imagine how this updated application for Revit can be helpful to you. So keep your eyes, mind and fantasy open, that will soon come true.

Using forthcoming version of Metal Framing Floor+, you can make a link between ceiling layers and metal framing configurations. Let’s take a regular architectural ceiling with Metal Stud Layer and Gypsum. We can easily assign your predefined frame and sheathing configurations:
