We just released a new Cut Opening version with lots of new features. Some of them were implemented together with our customers from NIRAS and Mott MacDonald teams. You can read short description down below.

Standardization

Dennis Berner @ NIRAS

Is the width/height the “world standard” for the hole size? Because as you see in this case, there is a parameter that are greater than the “hole” would it be possible to make your tool, so you have to map what parameter there are used from the arch model. My proposal to make it possible to change what parameters the tool should use, was just to make it easier for the architect to define their own doors and windows. But then they have to be consistent.

The Insert Structural Openings function is used to insert structural openings in the structural walls, in cases where architectural walls, windows, and doors are separated from the structural walls.

It is no secret, that two of the best, most popular solutions for structural engineers working in BIM environment are Tekla and Revit. Companies decide whether to use one or the other in the office depending on various factors. After a while, Revit users start wondering whether maybe they should have made a different decision. “Revit is a great platform,” they think, “but it’s not that great in all the cases we encounter on a daily basis.”

In this webinar, we want to show the precast concrete market that there is no need for any regrets. Just by adding a few tools, you can increase your productivity in the Revit environment and feel confident that you’ll remain competitive in the market.

The Precast Concrete Suite is a collection of add-ons that cover all the modelling, numbering, drawing, and management features that are missing in Revit.

I will go straight to the point – Revit is not enough for structural engineers. It has quite good tools to model forms of precast elements. And it’s ok for preliminary design. But when you have to go into details, you probably ask yourself every time – why did we choose Revit to be our main software for everyday work? While our friends, colleagues in other companies use Tekla and have no complains?

It should not be like this that’s why we developed add-ons for precast structures to improve work efficiency in Revit and be able to compete with other companies in the market. You don’t have to miss out on easier design work or regret that your models are Revit models, with Precast Concrete Suite you can solve most of the headaches in structures discipline and then you will begin enjoying working with Revit.

Collaboration between MEP engineers, structural engineers or architects is the main key to model precise buildings. One of the cases when collaboration between MEP engineers and structural engineers or architects greatly contributes to model’s quality is during insertion of openings into structures for MEP elements.

Usually MEP engineers work using linked file technology. They are linking structures to their own file and using it to check whether there are interferences. But how can someone specify the openings that are found in MEP engineer’s workplace for structural engineer. Structural engineers are given a huge amount of tasks to open passages for MEP services. Basically only MEP engineers know what sizes of openings should be used according to some special standard, fire ratings, etc.

AGACAD released a new technology for easier communication between MEP and structural engineers: "Cut Opening Software Opens New Possibilities for Collaboration between Revit® Users". Now structural engineers can take a breath and concentrate on their own tasks only. On this occasion, we are hosting a 30-min WEBINAR, which will b held by two Revit specialists that specialize in MEP engineering and structural engineering.

TOOLS4BIM Dock Gets Revit® 2017 Support and New Free Revit App

AGACAD is pleased to announce that all AGACAD applications for Autodesk® Revit® included in our tool management system TOOLS4BIM Dock* have already been updated for Revit 2017. From now on, AGACAD TOOLS4BIM products are compatible with all versions of Revit 2017 (excluding Revit LT) as well as the previous Revit 2016 & 2015**.

The main novelty of the TOOLS4BIM Dock 2017 version – it contains new Revit add-in named Smart Select that allows Revit users to select desired architectural, structural or MEP elements automatically by user configured parameters in just a few clicks.

We announce that from now on all AGACAD TOOLS4BIM products support compatibility with both Autodesk® Revit® 2016 as well as the previous Revit 2015.

The main novelty of the 2016 version edition – it contains the installer that is a very convenient new platform for tool installation, activation and management named TOOLS4BIM Dock. All AGACAD TOOLS4BIM trials and purchased licenses are acceptable through this platform now. All functionality of our tools will be the same as before except the interface will be different.

AGACAD offers both network and standalone license types of software licenses. Software with standalone licensing allows users to install the software on a single workstation (1 license = 1 computer) without the need to be connected to a company network.

Network licensing helps software user to ensure his/her own access to the right product at the right time, and it enables easy and efficient control of software use. Another customer's benefit – the only fixed annual fee (valid for 12 months) is applied for a company but not per license.

Network license can be installed on as many computers as desired; however, at any one time, only the maximum number of computers, which is specified in the licenses, can run the software. The Network License Manager (NLM), installed on one or more servers, controls the distribution of particular product licenses to the users.

Based on our experience, AGACAD customers need to have the most effective licensing model to fit their operation rules. Therefore we improved the licensing models. Now AGACAD provides NLM Annual Service that enables current SLM licenses' migration to NLM licenses and vice versa.

We have good news: more and more AGA CAD BIM solutions are already compatible with Autodesk® Revit® 2015.

As you know, our newest software Smart Assemblies and some of Wood Framing Pro modules Truss+ RT and Rafter+ fit for Revit 2015 now. And the last week Tools 4 Revit team released more BIM solutions, compatible with Autodesk Revit 2015. I'm talking about two BIM solutions that are already compatible with Revit 2015!

We have released new version 2015.1 of Cut Opening Pro BIM software that automatically creates openings around the ducts, pipes, cable trays and conduits in walls, floors, ceilings or roofs.

Also another useful solution Insert Elements is compatible with Autodesk Revit 2015 now. Insert Elements quickly inserts architectural, structural, mechanical elements into predefined positions that are logically related with other objects. We have released Insert Elements v2015.1 single and network licenses, so now designers who work in small or big design companies can use this new version of Insert Elements.

We would like to encourage all our current customers as well as new ones to sign up for our newsletter and receive information on updates of BIM solutions and extensions for Revit®, new software releases, upcoming events or ongoing projects. That is the best way to keep your software up to date.

Also, Revit users who own our software from now on will see an exclamation mark which appears on the icon (see below). It means that a new update has been released and available to download. When they click on the mark they will be redirected to our download page.

In case of bad network connection or firewall, or spam fillers, exclamation mark might not appear on the icon even a new tools4revit product update is available. I would recommend you once per month to visit our download page and check your current version.
