We would like to encourage all our current customers as well as new ones to sign up for our newsletter and receive information on updates of BIM solutions and extensions for Revit®, new software releases, upcoming events or ongoing projects. That is the best way to keep your software up to date.

Also, Revit users who own our software from now on will see an exclamation mark which appears on the icon (see below). It means that a new update has been released and available to download. When they click on the mark they will be redirected to our download page.

In case of bad network connection or firewall, or spam fillers, exclamation mark might not appear on the icon even a new tools4revit product update is available. I would recommend you once per month to visit our download page and check your current version.

Team of tools4revit© development today has released updated Fast Documentation Pack that includes 5 products of tools4revit© product group. Revit apps those are included in Fast Documentation Pack allow you to automate BIM data analysis and specification process by extracting the required elements, various parameters and material requirements directly from the project’s BIM models:

    • Excel2Revit icon Excel2Revit imports MS Excel spreadsheets into Autodesk® Revit® with its design settings; automatically inserts any external data from doc/txt/xls and creates/updates tables in Revit® drafting view.
    • Dynamic Legend shot Dynamic Legend quickly creates, modifies, and updates intelligent legends for different Revit® elements.

Today I will explain about the possibility to work with linked files using the Autodesk® Revit® extension Dynamic Legend. This post was inspired by our customer question “Does Dynamic Legend work on linked files, if yes, how?”, that we received last week.

I want to make all Revit users sure that Dynamic Legend really works with linked files. You can filter those elements by selecting “Document” tab in the window “Select Parameters”:

Updating of Revit Legends is a matter of great concern for many Autodesk® Revit® users. We often receive questions: “Do you have an instruction for how to update the door legend when here has been any change in the project?” or something like that. So today I’ll try to explain, how to update Revit legends with ease.

Dynamic Legend - Update All LegendsDynamic Legend is a very good Autodesk Revit extension that allows you to quickly create, modify and update legends for Revit elements. For updating legends there is a separate function Update All Legends. This function allows you to update all selected legends with just one click.

I would like to share some information with you that might be of possible interest to other Autodesk® Revit® users, especially for those who are already using the Dynamic Legend extension.

One of questions which I often get from my clients is:"Dimensions of the detail component do not adjust properly to the dimensions of each door (it keeps always with the same shape and dimensions). How can I adjust them?"

Answer: The dimensions of the detail component do not adjust properly to the dimensions of each door, because you need to follow these two rules:

1st: Size parameters in the frame have to be the same as it is in your doors. If you use not English Revit or you have created your own size parameters, then these parameters have to be changed in the frame family.

Dynamic Legend is a powerful Autodesk® Revit® Architecture/Structure/MEP extension that allows designers to quickly create, modify and update legends for Revit elements. It is time-saving software that is used by many Revit users worldwide. Using this add-in each Revit user can create & update intelligent legends and specifications per different legend pages. Dynamic Legends works with all Revit categories those can be added to a legend view.

From time to time we get questions about Revit app Dynamic Legend possibilities. At this time I will answer to quite a common question:"I would like to create a block that has parameter driven text, i.e. a mixture of vertically and horizontally aligned text, and for this block then to be copied downward. How to do that?"

Sustainable Design-2Sustainable design is the factually loudest buzzword in an AEC industry. It is actually a very good trend because an impact of the construction sector to the climate change is the second largest in Europe (Eurostat, 2013). That means there is a need for a major change.

If your Revit crashes after using our products, please check if Autodesk Revit extensions are installed. If so, there is a known problem, when Dynamic model update is turned on.

Please look at Project Preferences and check if “Turn on dynamic model update” is not selected:
