Latest News on Tools for Revit® and BIM.
January 09, 2017 by Renata Jočienė

Being able to find, access, and modify families quickly in your Revit® library is essential to working efficiently with Revit®. This is the purpose of Smart Browser Manage, the tool whose usefulness and power have been amplified in the latest release (versions 2016.3 and 2017.2).

Never used Smart Browser Manage? If you want a way to efficiently and manage all the content in your Revit® library, SBM is the tool for you, your go-to assistant when it comes to browsing, sorting, managing, and controlling items in your library.

If you are already an SBM user, the updated version speeds up your Revit® content management even further and brings new options to life that increase the accessibility of items in your library.

What exactly are the extremely useful changes in the updated SBM?

  1. Type catalogs are now fully supported.
  2. “Create Subcategories” works for multiple families at the same time, not just the selected one.
  3. A new function upgrades selected projects to the current Revit version.
  4. You can transfer the units from one template family to other selected families. A huge time-saver!
  5. The Assembly Code for a batch of families can be modified.
  6. There is a new option to modify the materials of selected families.
  7. The “Organization” dialog includes more options.
  8. When making modifications in the library, values are displayed in the same units as the current project.
  9. The synchronization process will not automatically override your custom PNG files being used as browser thumbnails.

Hello and welcome to the next article for architects about our brilliant solution for Revit - BIM Tree Manager . As you may already know, last month we started a BIM Tree Chimpanzee blog series that teaches how this tool can help architects, structural engineers, and MEP engineers use BIM to its full potential, so stay up to speed and take a look at our previous articles! You can find links at the end of this article.

It’s time we give more credit to BIM Tree Manager – an amazing solution for Revit®, which makes it incredibly simple to find and isolate elements in current or linked models, verify geometry and data at any LOD, and quickly fill in gaps or fix mistakes. With this article, we embark on the BIM Tree Chimpanzee series, which will include lots of useful information about how architects, structural engineers, and MEP engineers can wield BIM to its full potential. So don’t forget to keep on track!

When working with Revit, we go through the process of designing a model driven by lots of parameters, full of information that will be used later on. So, it is understandable that we get frustrated if, at some points, we cannot use the information we worked on the way we want to. Don’t get me wrong – Revit has a lot of brilliant functionality, and after all, what program does everything we want it to do?

Architects can get wall, floor, and ceiling finish material quantities in Revit very easily when they need to calculate them for the whole building. But it is a different story when it comes to calculating them by individual rooms: sadly, it cannot be done.

In plain Revit, the process of making Room Finish Schedule requires quite a lot of time and concentration because you have to fill in Finishes manually, in which case a margin of error emerges. Also, you cannot get actual material quantities of each floor, wall, or ceiling in a room.

Webinar has ended, but its recording is available upon request on events@aga-cad.com.

Discover the most important user based questions about MEP connections (Hangers and Supports). During this webinar we will introduce the casual workflow of Smart Hangers software that allows users to distribute hangers on MEP line based elements by predefined rules.

Furthermore, we‘ll demonstrate some new Revit® families that we have created for Smart Hangers.

We created Unistrut Trapeze Hanger and Support Families, which make multiple run hangers accessible in Smart Hangers. The new families enable easy Multi-Tier hanger distribution in Revit projects as well.

Intended Audience: MEP engineers, Structural engineers, BIM managers, BIM coordinators.

Would you like to work faster in Revit® and spend less time on non-creative tasks? I guess that many Revit users would answer yes to this question as everyone usually strives to be more efficient. Time-saving on various repetitive tasks is one of the biggest headaches when it comes to BIM modeling and completing a lot of steps manually, since usually it takes a lot of time that could be used for other, equally or even more important assignments. Furthermore, the chances of making mistakes by missing important details are not the ones we want to take.

Automatized functions and add-ons make our modeling process much smoother and faster, so luckily, AGACAD team has developed a brilliant extension for Revit - Smart Select. Time-saving and completely free of charge tool for architects, structural engineers and MEP engineers that allows users to select desired elements automatically by user configured parameters in just a few clicks.

TOOLS4BIM Dock Gets Revit® 2017 Support and New Free Revit App

AGACAD is pleased to announce that all AGACAD applications for Autodesk® Revit® included in our tool management system TOOLS4BIM Dock* have already been updated for Revit 2017. From now on, AGACAD TOOLS4BIM products are compatible with all versions of Revit 2017 (excluding Revit LT) as well as the previous Revit 2016 & 2015**.

The main novelty of the TOOLS4BIM Dock 2017 version – it contains new Revit add-in named Smart Select that allows Revit users to select desired architectural, structural or MEP elements automatically by user configured parameters in just a few clicks.

It seems that this year will be the first, when everything is going according to plan. Autodesk company is about to release Autodesk® Revit® 2017 on April 17th 2017, while AGACAD plans to release its newest TOOLS4BIM products’ versions... on April 17th as well!

We are still working on our products’ 2017 versions but they are nearly ready. 2017 version testing is in full swing and is nearly completed. Most of AGACAD TOOLS4BIM products are already tested and work perfectly in Revit 2017 version environment. Our technical team needs to check just a few more BIM solutions, and if bugs don’t rush us over, the newest versions’ preparations will be complete. And voila! – You can use the new Revit version together with productivity-enhancing applications designed for Revit.

We announce that from now on all AGACAD TOOLS4BIM products support compatibility with both Autodesk® Revit® 2016 as well as the previous Revit 2015.

The main novelty of the 2016 version edition – it contains the installer that is a very convenient new platform for tool installation, activation and management named TOOLS4BIM Dock. All AGACAD TOOLS4BIM trials and purchased licenses are acceptable through this platform now. All functionality of our tools will be the same as before except the interface will be different.

AGACAD offers both network and standalone license types of software licenses. Software with standalone licensing allows users to install the software on a single workstation (1 license = 1 computer) without the need to be connected to a company network.

Network licensing helps software user to ensure his/her own access to the right product at the right time, and it enables easy and efficient control of software use. Another customer's benefit – the only fixed annual fee (valid for 12 months) is applied for a company but not per license.

Network license can be installed on as many computers as desired; however, at any one time, only the maximum number of computers, which is specified in the licenses, can run the software. The Network License Manager (NLM), installed on one or more servers, controls the distribution of particular product licenses to the users.

Based on our experience, AGACAD customers need to have the most effective licensing model to fit their operation rules. Therefore we improved the licensing models. Now AGACAD provides NLM Annual Service that enables current SLM licenses' migration to NLM licenses and vice versa.
