Less than two months ago we released BIM solution Smart Assemblies for Autodesk® Revit® software. This application creates assemblies and corresponding views from selected architectural or structural elements and automatically generates shop drawings with required schedules and dimensions in views. “A sensational looking Revit plugin”, “well done” and other appreciations stimulate us to move forward. Therefore, we seek to be responsive to the needs of our customers.

When we got such a question “How to control element orientation in Assembly Front View?” from our client, seeing a demand for this feature we have added it to our Smart Assemblies version 2014.2.

Possibility to control family orientation in Assembly Front View is added like a new setting in Shop Drawing Configuration (SDC) dialog: “Align Assembly Front View orientation with Front View orientation in Family Editor”.

This setting goes for family based elements (like Columns, Beams and Generic Models).

Smart Assemblies v 2014.2-0Today we release new Smart Assemblies version 2014.2! In general, we are releasing 2-3 new our tool’s versions for one Revit version. So now we are going to release the second Smart Assemblies version for Revit 2014.

Our newest BIM solution which has attained high interest of Revit users especially those who work using Revit Structure has been updated according to our clients’ requests. For example, in this Smart Assemblies’ version a possibility to show assembly schedule counts by assembly instance or type has been added. This was the request of limestone fabricator specializing in new construction and restoration project.

We have also made some other useful improvements considering other Revit users’ wish list, foremost considering AGA CAD product subscribers’ wish list. About our subscription benefits (new versions, updates, full support, etc.) you can read more in our blog post Software Subscription and Its Benefits: Main Things You Need to Know. But now let’s take a look what’s new in Smart Assemblies v2014.2:

There is a very helpful capability in Smart Hangers, an application for Autodesk® Revit®, to calculate Hanger Elevation from Level. That is if you have a Duct/Pipe/etc. inserted in Level 1 with the height of 3000mm, hanger would inherit this parameter and you can easily transfer it to your created parameter automatically. That can be used for very informative tagging.

So this is how I used it in 8 easy steps. I don't know exactly how your organization does the tagging, but this is an example of what you can do:
