After the first step when I have explained how to model the architectural part of the building and its roof, today I'll describe the most convenient way to design Rafter roof:

I'll make rafters using Rafter+ tool from Wood Framing Pro suite. It works out of the box. Rafter+ has its own modifiable structural framings, which loads as soon as you use one of its functions for rafter system distribution.

Designers across the world are trying to find the answer how to easily model their roof designs in Autodesk® Revit® platform. This series of articles will explain how to easily do that by using Wood Framing Pro suite developed by AGA CAD Ltd. As Wood Framing Pro works exceptionally only with native Revit® element families, articles contains useful Revit® tips and tricks for everyday use. These will also have different common roof types and structural solutions (for example same type of roof can be done using rafters or trusses, so both will be covered in these articles).

All designers need to add dimensions to their Autodesk® Revit® drawings. Placing dimensions is time consuming job therefore they seek to find the easiest way to do this. Extension for Revit Quick Dimensions can be their recourse, because this tool allows Revit users to simplify and speed up the Revit project documentation process.

Quick Dimensions quickly creates dimensions by applying a user defined configuration. This Revit app automatically adds dimensions to selected architectural, structural or mechanical elements, and it enables to add dimension chains in sections and elevations automatically. Quick Dimensions creates more than one dimension chain with one click. This extension can help you in case you need to join existing separate dimensions to one dimension chain.

Sometimes our clients who use Quick Dimensions are confronted with the following situation: “After adding dimensions with “Preselected Walls Dimensioning”, the dimension lines are all in the same line. What should I do to get 3 separate dimension lines?”

In this article I will take a quick overview of the possibility to create Revit legends with included side-view of a corner door, a window or any other corner element.

Experienced Revit users know that it is possible to include a side-view of Revit family in a component legend using plain Revit, but in that case they need to create legends separately for each element type. Therefore Revit users waste a lot of time at work if there are many different type elements in Revit project. How to solve this problem?

IFCcuneco is a centre for productivity in construction, working on development of new BIM classification standards in Denmark. This new BIM classification system is very important for the European Union, and there has been general interest worldwide as well. cuneco team develops, tests and implements common BIM standards for enhanced exchange of data throughout all construction processes from initial concept and design over construction to operation and maintenance.

Being as a cuneco initiative partner, AGA CAD Company has joined the development efforts for the cuneco classification system (CCS) that offers a common ground to communicate clearly throughout the building process. AGA CAD contributes to the new BIM classification system development and testing by programming CCS App tools for the Autodesk Revit software.

We are pleased to announce that cuneco products fully match international IFC format, which among other things provides input to cuneco's property database.

Technology of house framing depends on local standards in which the house is designed. There are free common types of framing: Braced frame, Balloon frame and Platform framing. First of them are quite old and used very rarely, but it still important to be able to model them in Revit®.

Revit® allows modeling some neat framings manually. Old Framing types such as braced beam or balloon might be modelled fast by placing columns, beams and bracings manually. When we get to something like platform framing where we have hundreds of different framing elements, those are a little bit hard to coordinate and update.
