One of the frequently asked questions is based on custom hanger creation and usage with Smart Hangers.

Smart Hangers solution for Autodesk® Revit® is one of the powerful add-ons that can help you while placing Hangers and Supports on any kind of line based MEP elements or generic models. Most popular distribution rules are listed under every family. Filter of rules will be made accord hanger or support family (location line top, location line bottom, location line vertical, etc.). If you still can’t find required rules for distribution – no problem – you can built your own rule here in Smart Hangers solution.

To create your own rules you have to click on „Configure“ button:

hollow core panel

I know that some Revit® users always use the beam tool to draw hollow-core planks designing a  floor system. However, my colleagues and I have noticed that beams are not good solution for hollow-core panels. First of all,  it is very difficult to cut ends of such beam especially if it’s not rectangular. Second, the beam has one analytical line in the middle. It causes difficulties with adding loads and moving the BIM model to analytical software. So we have decided to make such panels under Floor category. Using our extension for Revit Smart Floors it is very easy to apply a panel as a floor type.
