Cut Opening LTOur BIM solution Cut Opening Pro that automatically creates openings around the MEP elements (ducts, pipes, etc.) in floors, walls, roofs, ceilings, beams, and columns, is easy and intuitive to use what our clients like the most. Other positive points designers using Cut Opening Pro noted:
- Ability to add many shared parameter to the openings (generic models), especially the bottom shared elevation;
- The auto-detection of isolation thickness;
- The ability to use linked Autodesk® Revit® models.

If you need to have any opening graphics in your project drawings, Cut Opening Pro will help you too. Here is an example with a question of our client:

custom hangersWe are getting a whole bucket of questions that are related to Smart Hangers solution which allows Autodesk® Revit® users to hang MEP elements either from the slab above and along vertical walls. One of the frequently asked questions is based on custom hanger creation and usage with Smart Hangers.

We want to share our practice and knowledge with you, and show the way hangers are created. In this video you will find useful information for creating hangers with necessary parameters to work with Smart Hangers application for Autodesk Revit.

Wish you luck!

Smart Hangers solution for Autodesk® Revit® is one of the powerful add-ons that can help you while placing Hangers and Supports on any kind of line based MEP elements or generic models. Most popular distribution rules are listed under every family. Filter of rules will be made accord hanger or support family (location line top, location line bottom, location line vertical, etc.). If you still can’t find required rules for distribution – no problem – you can built your own rule here in Smart Hangers solution.

To create your own rules you have to click on „Configure“ button:

Sort Mark XYZMany Autodesk® Revit® users face a problem in one of the last stages of a project. All elements in BIM model should have exact location in the project and the elements should be located in a real building accordingly. How to find this location in total station for layout in Revit? Users need at least X, Y, Z coordinates or in different language coordinates and elevations of any kind of elements.

Smart HangersMEP design in a project is only one part of work. Another part is how the MEP elements are connected to structural elements. It is a real headache to engineers as this is quite an important part of a project. Sometimes even MEP element distribution might be revised due to hanger clashes or absence of structural parts to connect hangers to.

Smart Hangers is a tool that helps HVAC engineers, plumbers, fire protection engineers, electrics and constructors to evaluate the positioning of their design!

We welcome Revit® Architecture and Revit® MEP users to join Smart Hangers live demonstration and find out how you can use this powerful solution for hanger and support distribution on MEP elements in your own Revit® projects.

hollow core panel

I know that some Revit® users always use the beam tool to draw hollow-core planks designing a  floor system. However, my colleagues and I have noticed that beams are not good solution for hollow-core panels. First of all,  it is very difficult to cut ends of such beam especially if it’s not rectangular. Second, the beam has one analytical line in the middle. It causes difficulties with adding loads and moving the BIM model to analytical software. So we have decided to make such panels under Floor category. Using our extension for Revit Smart Floors it is very easy to apply a panel as a floor type.

Thank you.
