AGA CAD is a software developer that is looking for the fastest and the most convenient way to work in Autodesk® Revit®. AGA CAD software is specialized in various fields like: architecture, structure, MEP, analysis, etc. This time I want to tell about MEP part of Revit.

AGA CAD is creating professional BIM solutions for MEP engineers that work with Autodesk Revit. I can count over 10 products that can help MEP engineers in their everyday workflow. Our main goal is to find the weakest points in Revit and develop the solution that will increase work productivity in such cases. Some of these solutions can increase work productivity but some of them can open new features that even Revit does not have.

Many of AGA CAD's created solutions for Autodesk® Revit® can do a lot of things and calculate a lot of new parameters that you need. Basically these parameters are Shared Parameters and could not be inserted into tag families in the same manner as simple parameters. Do you know how should you use these parameters in tagging?

Firstly, you have to create and calculate required parameter in Revit using corresponding Revit add-on from AGA CAD. This parameter will be shared. I have calculated element's bottom elevation. This elevation is neccesary in some cases when placing elements into the project, ex. hangers, cut openings, etc.

Distribution of MEP elements like radiators, diffusers, sprinklers, switches, lighting fixtures or duct splits in a project may take a huge amount of time while designing BIM models. Autodesk® Revit® helps in such situations. But, do you think it's enough? Not for us! Kick your Revit to the next level - insert elements using fully customizable rules into predefined positions that are logically related with other objects.

Possibility to insert virtual groups of elements in the spaces allows us to insert hundreds of elements with required gaps between them. This allows us to plan sprinkler's or air terminal's location in the BIM model with a real time interference check.

One of the frequently asked questions is based on custom hanger creation and usage with Smart Hangers.

Smart Hangers solution for Autodesk® Revit® is one of the powerful add-ons that can help you while placing Hangers and Supports on any kind of line based MEP elements or generic models. Most popular distribution rules are listed under every family. Filter of rules will be made accord hanger or support family (location line top, location line bottom, location line vertical, etc.). If you still can’t find required rules for distribution – no problem – you can built your own rule here in Smart Hangers solution.

Sort Mark XYZMany Autodesk® Revit® users face a problem in one of the last stages of a project. All elements in BIM model should have exact location in the project and the elements should be located in a real building accordingly. How to find this location in total station for layout in Revit? Users need at least X, Y, Z coordinates or in different language coordinates and elevations of any kind of elements.

A lot of our clients face the frequent problem that they distribute in the project hundreds of Revit® families those are not line based elements and trying to hang or support them using solution. Do not forget that the Smart Hangers application works only with line based elements such as line pipes, ducts, cable trays, conduits and also  with LINE BASED GENERIC MODELS.

If you want to place different radiators into spaces according to calculated heating load automatically, you have to insert different types of radiators into the project that have different properties. After you insert these families from the .txt file, you will get such a dialog block where you have to indicate what kind of families you will need in the project:
