Smart Assemblies v 2014.2-0Today we release new Smart Assemblies version 2014.2! In general, we are releasing 2-3 new our tool’s versions for one Revit version. So now we are going to release the second Smart Assemblies version for Revit 2014.

Our newest BIM solution which has attained high interest of Revit users especially those who work using Revit Structure has been updated according to our clients’ requests. For example, in this Smart Assemblies’ version a possibility to show assembly schedule counts by assembly instance or type has been added. This was the request of limestone fabricator specializing in new construction and restoration project.

We have also made some other useful improvements considering other Revit users’ wish list, foremost considering AGA CAD product subscribers’ wish list. About our subscription benefits (new versions, updates, full support, etc.) you can read more in our blog post Software Subscription and Its Benefits: Main Things You Need to Know. But now let’s take a look what’s new in Smart Assemblies v2014.2:

As you know, we are constantly adding new products to AGA CAD product portfolio. Hope it would be interesting to you to know that we are currently working on the newest product Smart Assemblies. This product is not officially released yet, but it will be released very soon (perhaps within one month).

I want to briefly describe our new product's purpose. Smart Assemblies is a BIM solution for Autodesk® Revit® users that provides a set of intuitive tools for generation of workshop drawings. Revit user just needs to select structural beam, column, wall, floor or other structural element, and the application will collect all the rebar and other hosted concrete or steel elements and make an assembly with predefined views and schedules.

Hi all Excel2Revit lovers! We know that there are a lot of Excel2Revit users all over the world who like this easy-to-use tool. Today we have big news for all of you.

Inasmuch as Autodesk is the registered owner of the Revit® trademark in the United States and more than a dozen international jurisdictions, including the European Community, we must rename our products missing Revit® trademarks on our product names. So we have released new version of Excel2Revit that was renamed to Excel2R. Like previously, this Autodesk Revit add-on enables to quickly insert MS Excel data into your Revit projects. Herewith, we have decided to improve work with Excel data and now Excel2R became more effective.

So what's new in Excel2R v2014.3 and v2013.3:

All designers need to add dimensions to their Autodesk® Revit® drawings. Placing dimensions is time consuming job therefore they seek to find the easiest way to do this. Extension for Revit Quick Dimensions can be their recourse, because this tool allows Revit users to simplify and speed up the Revit project documentation process.

Quick Dimensions quickly creates dimensions by applying a user defined configuration. This Revit app automatically adds dimensions to selected architectural, structural or mechanical elements, and it enables to add dimension chains in sections and elevations automatically. Quick Dimensions creates more than one dimension chain with one click. This extension can help you in case you need to join existing separate dimensions to one dimension chain.

Sometimes our clients who use Quick Dimensions are confronted with the following situation: “After adding dimensions with “Preselected Walls Dimensioning”, the dimension lines are all in the same line. What should I do to get 3 separate dimension lines?”

Our team has finished this year with an update of BIM Tree Manager that is maybe one of the most powerful BIM solutions for Autodesk Revit users. The update of BIM Tree Manager was released last week before the festive season.

BIM Tree Manager enables incredibly speedy building design, intuitive facility management and BIM data analysis in the Revit projects. It allows each Revit user to navigate, find or modify any element and element parameters with ease. This software works faster now and it is supplemented with new useful features.

Here is a short description of a problem that was sent to us by one of Revit users: “Our client is asking us to add a tag to all wall openings to say which service goes through which particular hole. At the moment using Cut Opening Pro, I can change the opening shape from round to rectangle, plus edit the offset. There are no other variables to edit. However, would it be possible to add another edit box whereby we could add a note as either an Instance Parameter or Type Parameter? For example, we would like to be able to add the discipline code, such as ELE, MVC or FPS to the Properties box when we are using the Cut Opening Pro dialogue box. This would then allow us to automatically tag the openings when producing two dimensional construction drawings.”  Have you ever faced with such a problem? Don’t worry – it can be solved simply.

RAS ManagerOur team knows that it makes a lot of sense for the names and numbers of spaces in the architect’s model to match the room names and numbers in the Autodesk® Revit® MEP software. Moreover, if there are hundreds of rooms it can take way too long to type in each one. That is why we suggest Revit users to use an additional productivity-boosting tool for the Autodesk Revit software named RAS Manager.

Today I would like to show you a way how to match room numbers from the architect’s model to the Revit MEP model spaces. This example will help you to solve a problem if you can copy the room names but the numbers don’t seem to work.

Today I will try to answer some common questions asked by Revit MEP users. Here are a few examples of questions that we receive from time to time:

Question #1: It sees on the web page that Cut Opening Pro Supports IFC Ducts and Pipes, but is it Supporting IFC Ducts, Pipes and Cable, coming from (Made by) AutoCAD Architecture, and MagiCAD as application for pipes and Cable? I’m in a big mess with many holes for Ducts, Pipes and Cable to cut out into buildings, I while use a very long time to do this manually for every Ducts, Pipes and Cable.

Question #2: I have received a file from a MEP user that I want to make cutouts for in the structural Revit model. However he is providing his model in the IFC format that I have opened in Revit and saved as a Revit-file. Is it in any way possible to use your software, Cut Opening, in this instance? It seems as if the IFC-geometry defaults to generic models in the Revit-version and I guess “Cut Opening” can’t use this?

Yes, I want to tell you that using BIM solution for Revit Cut Opening Pro you can create openings around Pipes, Ducts, Cable Trays and Conduits that come from IFC file format. Please find the steps below those describe how to cut openings according to IFC:

Smart-floors (Custom)Smart Floors is a powerful Autodesk® Revit® Architecture/Structure extension for reinforced floor panel insertion and modification. Modeling of prestressed concrete flooring systems is a very accurate and easi design process using this Revit add-on. Smart Floors modifies offsets and position of concrete floor panels and inserts holes into structural floor systems. Today we offer to use the updated extension for Autodesk Revit: Smart Floors now is more convenient and has more possibilities to create presstressed concrete floor system in Revit.

Sort-mark (Custom)tools4revit© product Sort Mark is maybe the best solution that allows to sort & mark Revit elements in different ways and add additional information to the selected ones. It is a productivity enhancing tool for Autodesk Revit, created under expectations of Revit users.

Not without a reason Sort Mark is becoming increasingly popular among Revit users.

Sort Mark is the Autodesk Revit add-on that allows you to easily sort and renumber any Revit graphical, architectural and structural element that has a “mark” value, including grids, doors, windows walls, etc. Also Sort Mark adds prefix and suffix to mark values, and removes all duplicate “mark” values in a selected category. This easy-to-use time saving tool enables to increase productivity on a day to day basis.
