AGACAD team has created a new application for Autodesk® Revit® to export multi-layered frames of wooden walls and floors to automated panel production lines.

Earlier AGACAD offered optional export to any separate Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines, but from now on modelled timber house frames can be moved from Revit directly to large CAD/CAM production lines for mass production. When timber frame house building companies have a lot of orders and large volume of production capacity, production line greatly speeds up their work.

New Exporter is a separate software for Revit users that can automatically assemble all framing members in predefined ways and send all necessary data for flexible manufacturing of timber houses to CAD/CAM production line.

Today we offer CNC Exporters for the most popular production lines WEINMANN and Randek but this AGACAD software can be adapted for other producton lines of timber frame pre-fabricated house industry too.

We are glad to announce that there was a NEW framing technology added that allows to frame multi-story houses 10 times faster! Updates are reflected in these applications for Autodesk® Revit®:

Metal Framing Wall+ 2016.14 and 2017.14,
Wood Framing Wall+ 2016.14 and 2017.14,

Metal Framing Floor+ 2016.8 and 2017.8,
Wood Framing Floor+ 2016.8 and 2017.8.

Multi-Framing features work great with big projects, like multi-story wood- or metal-framed houses. We have tried to frame walls belonging to one group and copy them to other similar groups in the model of big tenement house. It took only ~30 minutes to frame over 700 walls with new multi-framing functionality.

None of Autodesk® Revit® users can avoid working with Revit families. Depending on project size and complexity, either more or less of family files can be used; therefore Revit family library, as well as storage, size may vary. Usually Revit families are stored on designer’s computer, or, when there are lots of Revit elements in a company, they can be stored on company server.

t takes time to select Revit object from a library, even more time is consumed by editing process of families already loaded into a project. Therefore, most Revit users are looking for ways to speed up these processes. Revit add-ons and applications, developed by AGACAD, can greatly facilitate designers’ work.

Today our development team has released new Wood Framing Floor+ version that is full of new features and improvements. Take a look at the main novelties of this application for Autodesk® Revit® versions 2016.6 and 2015.6:

  • Improvements in the Revit sample families were made, therefore the families need to be reloaded to the existing project with Load Families & Schedules.
  • Split all Rim Joists feature was added which splits elements according to predefined settings in Framing Configuration.

This blog post was inspired by one of Wood Framing Wall+ user’s series of questions. He was looking for advanced framing possibilities with Revit®, and decided to try our BIM solution and sent us some questions about timber wall framing. Since we receive similar questions from other clients too, I have decided to write a summary of Q&A that Wood Framing Wall+ users could find as many answers to their questions in one place as possible.

So here are a few questions about timber wall framing and answers to each of them:

”Hi! At last I installed Wood Framing Wall+ to my computer. I did simple project and this program is almost perfect. I have a few questions about it:

1. I can make framing schedules, but can I get notching information too to framing schedule? For example I have a wall with bridging like in the picture below, and same height wall without bridging, schedule information looks just the same. I need to specify studs with and without notch.”
