Want to see more detail in your shop drawings? Now you can, by creating Detail Views! This powerful function is included in the newly released versions of Wood / Metal Framing Wall+, Floor+, and Roof+. This special feature was developed at the request of our Norwegian users.

Back in the olden days, when you placed an assembly view on your shop drawing, you could see that assembly and all its parts in all their dimensioned glory. It was wonderful.

That was then.

This is now.

Say hello to Detail Views.

Our framing software for wood and metal floors has been updated in a lot of ways. From connections to stud size, from rendering shop drawings to cutting beams, there is a variety of upgrades in these products. Let’s take a tour and check out the new features of Wood Framing Floor+ and Metal Framing Floor+!

  • Floor Connections
Even though the most popular floor end connections were already available, these weren’t sufficient because users often want to generate something unique. Take structural engineers. They’re always interested in reducing heat loss and saving materials, frequently by using special joins. Well, now we have good news for everyone who needs to make custom joins! Our newly-developed custom join function allows you to make virtually any connection type, save it, and use it in your projects.

Nowadays, people want fast results on construction site, i.e. quickly manufactured prefabricated walls, floors and roof. That’s why after long and hard work, we are finally putting finishing touches on a new product designed for prefabricated roofs – Wood Framing Roof+, which was awaited by many.

On this occasion, we are hosting a 45-min WEBINAR, which will be held on Thursday, November 17.

http://www.aga-cad.com/products/bim-solutions/wood-framing-roofWood Framing Roof+ enables quick and easy creation of prefabricated wood framing for roofs in Revit® models. Powerful features simplify creation of roof joists, battens, valley joists, roof boards and more. The software automates shop drawings, including the sorting, tagging, dimensioning and scheduling of all frames.

Wood Framing Roof+ frames prefabricated roof panels. Roof Panel Layout automates panel layout planning for architectural roof. The software draws symbolic lines according to predefined rules which indicate the way future panels will look like. Then it creates actual Revit® roof panels.

Roof Panel Layout is a powerful solution for prefabricated roof panels in Revit®. It enables easy roof panel planning and splitting into segments for prefabrication which can then be used in the roof framing process.

After getting a roof from the architects, we can use Roof Panel Layout to generate the panel layout planning. The software uses predefined rules to draw symbolic lines indicating the future panels. Then it creates real Revit® roof panels. Later Wood Framing Roof+ or Metal Framing Roof+ users can use these panels to create prefabricated framing, including rafters, battens, valley joists, roof boards, and so on.

We got such question from our Metal Framing Wall+ user:

Some of our panel designs use a lot of different post assemblies throughout the building. I end up creating these as a combination of vertical studs, additional studs, and sometimes a stud from a connection too. I’d like to use a special framing member mark to communicate when these studs are a post instead of a vertical/additional/connection stud. Although I would be really thankful if you know of a way your programs would be able to do this.

For example: my superintendent wants the S-2 stud below to be marked CFP for cold formed post."

Using Wood Framing Wall+ and Metal Framing Wall+, you can automate wall framing work in Revit and build complete shop drawings with dimensioning, part lists and material take-off automatically. Solution will collect all elements from one wall panel and make assembly with predefined views, add dimensions, add tags, make sheets and put the views into the sheets.

With new Wood Framing Wall+ and Metal Framing Wall+ version you will be able to generate more detailed shop drawings and have possibility to create multiple sheets for one wall panel. We received this request from our client Mr. Alar Oinus (Fint Engineering OÜ) who wants to provide more information about framed walls to fabrication process.

Assembly Views, Schedules and Sheets are now separated into different tabs which makes it ease to find and control them. Under Assembly Views, you can predefine assembly views, graphical representation, and framing layers you want to present. Now you can predefine different framing, connection or part tags for each view. Also every view now can have its own frame dimensioning rules, which include dimension styles and positioning. There are no limits to the amount of views!

We often receive requests from clients to make specific L, T or Free End joins. The most popular are already available, but still there is a need to generate something unique. Unique joins usually are encouraged by structural engineers who are willing to save heating loses or save materials. We always had demand for such tasks.

Now, we have good news for everyone with need for custom joins!

We have created new connection technology that allows making virtually any connection type, save it and use in any projects. This technology has been developed for Metal Framing Wall+ and Wood Framing Wall+.

Here is an example, which we got from the client. This is their specific L corner:

What should Autodesk® Revit® user do, if he needs to quickly split logs into segments, which are overlapping? It can be done with the newest version of BIM solution Wood Framing Wall+, which has improved Split Bridging/Nogging feature.

In this blog post, I will describe a workflow which will help you to easily and quickly create realistic wall of a log house.

Firstly, using Add Additional Stud function, add invisible vertical stud that will split logs:
