Make Revit Better By Using MEP Tools

Setting up hangers and creating openings for MEP elements is not the most exciting part of modelling in Autodesk® Revit®. It’s rather boring and takes up too much time. An engineer could spend days manually working around pipes and ducts, checking how they intersect with other structural and architectural elements. All of this can be done much faster using AGACAD tools such as MEP Hangers and Cut Opening. These solutions have been proven to prevent human error, save money, and dramatically reduce time spent on tasks during the BIM process.

Autodesk Revit by default doesn’t provide any easy workflow for quickly creating multiple openings or connecting MEP systems to the structural model, so engineers waste time doing things by hand. AGACAD is solving this problem by developing tools that eliminate boring manual work and provide more control over the project.

“The best part of AGACAD solutions is that they are being constantly improved and the user gets updates for free when they are released. We are very happy with the functionality that we have already developed, but we don't plan to stop as there is always space to improve, or things to add,” says Aleksandras Seza, an MEP engineer at AGACAD.

MEP Hangers is meant to eliminate manual placement of hangers and provide more control over your project. The solution basically enables instant auto-creation of hangers and supports throughout a Revit model for ducts, pipes, cable trays, and conduits. Users only need to configure desired settings and watch as the MEP Hangers BIM Solution does everything for you. Once created, settings will be saved on your computer for later use, or even on a server for sharing with your colleagues.

The solution also enables data transfer from MEP elements and structures into the inserted hangers, which is very helpful for generating a precise bill of materials. One of the most important features is the possibility to extract anchor coordinates and send them directly to the building site to start immediately drilling holes for hangers.

Cut Opening uses interference data to position openings in your Revit model. It’s an incredibly useful piece of software – engineers only need to tweak their desired settings and watch as the algorithm does everything automatically. Instead of manually working for long hours, even days, you can do the same in half an hour. Users enter their desired settings, and then Cut Opening will do the rest, creating openings in your Revit models for ducts, pipes, cable trays, conduits, and even beams.

Engineers and architects can review, revise, and create the approved openings with just one click. Auto-creation works based on the location, type, and depth of MEP clashes with structural and architectural elements, as well as predefined cut offsets and distances between connectable openings in current, linked, or IFC files. Like any other tool provided by AGACAD, details can be modified and configurations can be saved and shared.

Our MEP tools are designed to make the construction process easier and cheaper, to eliminate human error, and to drive automation forward. We believe that you should have a full set of building data before moving on to the construction phase. That’s why we offer tools that will distribute both hangers and openings while also providing full information about their positions, sizes, and other parameters that you may need in a current model with its latest updates.
