Our development team has decided to make some changes in 'Tools 4 Revit' product group. They made a decision that extension for Revit® Quick Table that automatically inserts any external data from doc/txt/xls and creates/updates tables in Revit® drafting view will not be developed for Revit 2015. Its features were moved to another Revit app Excel2R which became a very popular T4R ('Tools 4 Revit' group) product. Excel2R imports Excel data to Revit projects with spreadsheets design settings but it also allows to import MS Word text, so Excel2R features replace all Quick Table functionality.
This change of T4R products is well understandable for our team, but not for our clients as I can see. Some days ago I received a question from one of them: “I was wondering there was a way to use Quick Table for importing a word document and have it look like the format in the attached file. Or do you have another program that could meet this need."
In such case I recommend to use our extension for Revit Excel2R. In this blog post I'll shortly explain how to import text information from text document to Revit project.
Open the Word document with Excel (you can just drag and drop MS Word document to MS Excel spreadsheet):
Use Excel2R → select xls file → Draw Table:
Excel2R will make a drafting view with all data from Excel file with the same design settings.
