BIM for Prefabricated Construction: Tools & Vision. #AU2019

In the lead-up to Autodesk University 2019, at which we’ll be an exhibitor, we’re honing in on three areas of focus: Classification, Fabrication, and Transformation.

Last week we looked at BIM Content Management & Classification.
This week it’s BIM for Prefabricated Construction.

Prefabricated construction brings several advantages, as our own Aleksandras Seza recently outlined. What it boils down to is, if building components can be prefabricated, construction time drops and quality assurance shoots up. That’s why AGACAD has spent years developing and honing cutting-edge software for Revit that meets the demand for efficiently turning architectural drawings into BIM models, be they framed timber or steel panels or precast concrete structures, which can then be prefabricated, allowing for quick manufacture on site.

Here’s a closer look at the solutions we bring to the table, what clients have to say about them, and our dedicated BIM Application engineers (all of whom are Certified Revit Professionals) and whom you can meet at our booth (AE452) at AU2019.

Our Precast Concrete BIM Solution for Revit enables quick and easy modeling of all prefabricated concrete elements, including slabs, wall panels, columns, and beams. It streamlines the design process with features like automatic dimensions in element views, auto-insertion of hardware (plates, grout tubes, anchors, etc.) according to user-defined rules, full-project, real-time assembly updates, and auto-generation of bills of materials and shop drawings.

Now let’s hear from a couple of clients who have implemented the Precast Concrete solution at their firms:

“The Precast Concrete suite brought efficiency and flexibility.”

Precast suite has “game-breaker” BIM tools.

Yes. Game-breaker.

Our Precast Concrete clients are supported by Valensas Balsevičius (MEng Structural Engineering).

He has hosted many webinars about precast, so we invite you to check those out.

The value of Precast Concrete was further recognized in October 2018 when Autodesk named AGACAD an AEC Industry Partner specifically in the precast concrete sector.

Top Revit users have called our Wood Framing Suite the most powerful and flexible BIM software on the market for constructions comprising multi-layer timber-frame walls, floors, and roofs. That includes prefabricated panels, rafters and trusses, and specialized solutions for designing buildings with SIPs, CLT, and heavy timber. Advanced automation and built-in best practices help BIM professionals make optimal choices, move much faster, and avoid errors at every stage – from design and documentation to fabrication and construction.

“Wood Framing was the tool we’d been searching for. It’s flexible and built to automate everything, but the designer can make changes manually. “

“It has given substance to our models.”

Our Wood Framing clients are supported by our architectural engineer Eve Leliuge.

On to our Metal Framing Suite for Revit. As with the Wood Framing software, here standardization and automation of framing walls, floors, and roofs and of generating shop drawings allows users to zip past time-consuming tasks in building design. Drawings are produced almost simultaneously from the moment the first panel is framed. The automated shop drawing process includes sorting, tagging, dimensioning, and scheduling all frames.

“It’s the lifeblood of our off-site prefabrication and module-building practices, reducing labour costs while increasing accuracy.”

“AGACAD framing tools let us confidently take on more complexity.”

“These great tools let me keep up with the demands of working on multiple projects. My productivity has increased by 60%.”

Our Metal Framing clients are supported by our architectural engineer Andrius Bialyj.

To generate and control openings in Revit models of wood or metal frames or precast elements, Cut Opening is the solution. It creates openings where ducts, pipes, cable trays, and conduits intersect walls, floors, roofs, ceilings, beams, or columns. It can even create modified openings with holding details for structural beams.

Bottom line: you get much faster design and drawings and increased precision to ensure accurate bills of materials and builders work.

“Cut Opening software supports our Lean BIM processes.”

Cut Opening delivered “accurate results and excellent coordination.”

Webinars!

Hopefully this has given a feel for the tools we have when it comes to our vision of BIM for Prefabricated Construction. If you’ll be at AU2019, we’d be thrilled to show you up close and personal our lineup of BIM Solutions on the Revit platform for timber and steel framing, precast, and MEP at booth AE452.
